Discussion: Boundary ID format
The boundary ID produced by borderline
should have the following format as a minimum:
LUX-0001
The first 3-letter code is the ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 code of the country, the second code is the number of the boundary within the country. Maybe we should add further information to the ID but I would argue that this information should go into the boundary database (e.g. the different ID_x
and NAME_x
values together with the information in OSM: admin_level
and relation ID). However, I suggest to add a hyphen between LUX
and 0001
so that readability is increased and further information can be added after another hyphen without having to define the number of digits for the number.
