Add support for new Landsat Collection data - add the new datasets to our database and crawl the metadata
Since Q1/2017 Landsat data are provided within new USGS datasets: Landsat Collections. We will have to support this soon.
Below some information about it:

Collection 1 processing for Landsat 4-5 TM and Landsat 7 ETM+ is complete and data products are available for download from EarthExplorer.
In February 2017, Collection 1 processing began for Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS data starting with the most recently acquired scenes and moving back in time through the archive. Data for the conterminous United States from 2013 to present is available for download from EarthExplorer. Landsat 8 Collection 1 processing for the rest of the world is expected to last until June 2017.
Landsat 1-5 Multispectral Scanner (MSS) data will be processed into Collection 1 after data quality analysis and processing level investigations are complete.
During Collection 1 processing, newly acquired Landsat 7 ETM+ and Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS scenes will be processed into the Pre-Collection data sets, as well as the new Collection 1 data sets – using the parameters established for each.
Pre-Collection data sets will be retained for some time after each dataset is completely processed into Collection 1 (specific timeframe is yet to be determined). Announcements will be made to alert users when the data set has completed Collection 1 processing, and when we plan to remove the Pre-Collection data sets.
Landsat 8 OLI and TIRS data held in the USGS archive can be searched using GloVis, EarthExplorer, or the LandsatLook Viewer. Collection 1 Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS scenes available in EarthExplorer are located under the Landsat Archive/Collection 1 Level-1 menu as “L8 OLI/TIRS C1 Level-1”. The data will also remain under the Landsat Archive/Pre-Collection menu as “L8 OLI/TIRS” and “L8 OLI/TIRS Pre-WRS-2” for 6 months after the transition to the tiered structure.
Newly collected data will become available for search and download within 24 hours after data acquisition.
Data is delivered from the USGS only in digital format, with the parameters noted above. There are several commercial firms that may provide data in different formats, or printed images from USGS digital data.
Landsat OLI image previews will be available on GloVis, EarthExplorer, or the LandsatLook Viewer. Each browse image is a resampled JPEG of the raw scene data, and is displayed as a 6,5,4 (RGB) composite with a 2% linear color stretch, based on individual scene content.
