# **Paper on automatic building damage classification**
As part of the [LOKI framework](https://git.gfz-potsdam.de/loki/loki_wiki/-/wikis/LOKI-Framework), we present a novel approach for the classification of structural building damage grades from multi-temporal photogrammetric point clouds using a machine learning model trained on virtual laser scanning data.
Some of the paper's highlights:
- Damage is assessed per building in a change-based geometric approach.
- The machine learning model is purely trained on simulated laser scanning point clouds.
- Training data generation integrates domain knowledge from earthquake engineering.
- The presented approach achieves a high degree of geographic transferability.
- Different sources of point clouds are used for model training and application.

# **BMBF status seminar 2023**
At the annual BMBF status seminar in Hannover we presented main research outcomes of the LOKI project. It was great to meet researchers of other projects of the funding priority and the BMBF review commitee in person and have __extensive exchange on the topics of [early detection of earthquakes](https://www.projektfoerderung-geo-meeresforschung.de/geowissenschaften?action=ShowList) and their consequences__. During the seminar we also identified synergies between the projects and will further elaborate how they can be used.
