Change ML algorithm while classifying?

@carstenn : Does it make sense to change the ML algorithm in the midst of a classification process?

Say I am wokring on the third class and I am not happy with the results - should e.g. from random forest to SVM halfway to try whether I get better results? Or is this a nonsense idea?
