Get infos about available data without actually downloading any data
Good day,
I am currently integrating the gts2_client into a back-end service. Based on user input via browser it downloads geographical and temporal subsets of the data saving them into a postgis database.
A lot of the time a user might request the same data twice. I want to filter out parts of the request where data is already available offline in the database. For this purpose I need a way of querying the availability of data for a certain request without actually retrieving the data.
The timestamp of a dataset (in combination with its geographical bounding box) should be enough to uniquely identify the datasets so I can filter my request before actually requesting the data.
So my questiong: Am I correct in the assumption that this has not been implemented yet in the client? Can this be implemented without changing the underlying ?REST? API?
This would reduce the workload for redundant user requests a lot.
Best,
Niklas
